Reframing Displacements: Epistemologies of Displacement

This is the first seminar of the Sadler Seminar Series Reframing Displacement.

We are living through an age of unprecedented global and local displacement. Human populations are experiencing a convergence of political, economic and climate-related factors necessitating involuntary movement.

Despite this, much research on human mobility remains tied to specific understandings of displacement tied to different academic disciplines. This seminar series aims to visualize, articulate and ultimately reframe displacement and how it is represented through conversation across the arts and humanities and social sciences.

This seminar will bring together new research on global experiences of forced movement, with an emphasis showcasing the work of postgraduate researchers and early-career researchers on empirical experiences of displacement at a variety of intersecting scales and diverse geographic locales.

This seminar will stage a discussion between the work of four researchers:
