The Leeds Arts and Humanities Research Institute creates opportunities for collaborative, inclusive, interdisciplinary working for researchers at every career stage. We set out to...

  • Support, develop and celebrate researchers and their ideas, enabling them to amplify and realise their ambitions.
  • Generate and facilitate new collaborations, and sustain existing relationships, connecting individuals and groups across the full range of academic disciplines.
  • Identify and share prospects for research development, responding to opportunities as they emerge.
  • Foster and preserve a culture of inclusive partnership working, engaging with research communities and partners to make a difference.
  • Secure and distribute funding to support research development, selecting projects and collaborations with the potential to thrive.

Each academic year we support a range of interdisciplinary research projects and researchers through our internal funding schemes, workshops and events. We also host a large community of Postdoctoral Visiting Fellows in our base at the heart of the University campus.

For arts and humanities researchers based at the University of Leeds our LAHRI Hub offers research development resources, including internal and external funding opportunities, examples of successful bids, and guidance about research impact and ethics.

We collaborate closely with the Cultural Institute, who develop and support partnerships with the cultural and creative sectors, and work with other interdisciplinary research Institutes and Centres across the University.

We are a member of the international Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes and the UK-wide Consortium of Institutes of Advanced Studies, contributing to the development and promotion of arts and humanities research nationally and globally.
