Environmental Humanities Futures

Arts and humanities research and researchers can make a key contribution to better understanding the causes, impacts, and perceptions of climate change.
At the University of Leeds we have expertise in environmental humanities across the full range of arts and humanities disciplines, from performance and music to history and literature. Environmental humanities is also changing rapidly, in response to both exciting new developments in academic disciplines, and pressing climate and environmental crises.
In April 2023, the Leeds Arts & Humanities Research Institute brought together a range of academic colleagues from across and beyond arts and humanities for Environmental Humanities Futures, a showcase and networking event to hear more about cutting-edge research in this area, and to explore possible future directions in the field. We will continue to share findings and follow-ups from the discussion, but in the meantime colleagues at Leeds can watch lightning talks from the event, reflecting the amazing diversity of research in this area at Leeds.
